Keep in mind, all the Sound Lab music provided is available to use for your own creative and terrifying games, movies, or podcasts!

“The Back Yard Adventure” Rings A Whimsical and Welcoming Tone

If you have gotten the chance to play the game, “Grounded” on Xbox One already, you’ve seen an awesome take on base building games where you explore a suburban back yard smaller than an insect! Build homes out of grass and survive the one-acre wild kingdom! Even with the game in its alpha form and minor hiccups, I love the concept and art style of the game. That being said, the game is missing out on music to serenade the adventure that awaits.

What I noticed first, was that the opening game menu does provide music, but I thought of an alternate version that could also work for supplementing first impressions of this title. With exciting and adventurous melodies charging you up to jump right into the game, music placed inside the “in-between” places or menus of the game still mean a lot to providing character and world building to Grounded. So the song, “The Back Yard Adventure” is my take on the start menu music or intro to a colorful and wonderful story. Enjoy the song and watch out for spiders if you’re playing the game!

“The Traveler” Takes You On a Symphonic Journey

It’s a different time, a traveling horse and carriage cuts through untouched lands and wooded country as its passenger makes his way to the first chapter of an exciting story. Visualizing an opening credit scene, this string instrument ensemble helps articulate a transitioning or active scene in a classical music style.

It was refreshing to finally dive into the orchestral side of things as there is an agreeable charm it can provide when pairing with film or fitting game scenes. As always, it was a pleasure to create this track and remind everyone that these songs are all available on the Audio Catalog as royalty-free and exclusive to your creative entity, story, or any project whatsoever. There definitely will be more orchestrated tracks to come right here on the site. Please enjoy, “The Traveler” below or in the catalog and keep up to date right here as we add all kinds of new music every week! Thanks so much for listening.

“A Violent Encounter” -The Intense Portrayal of Surviving the Apocalypse

This week’s update was an exciting one and playing back my terrifying new song had me shitting in my pants. Sorry for the language. There are no editors here and I thought it was funny to say how suspenseful hearing this track really was! The thrilling and dark aura that leads to an alarming melody captures the desperate action sequences you find yourself in when playing the game, The Last of Us Part II on Playstation. If you haven’t already caught wind of the admiration I have for the recently released sequel to one of the biggest games out there, then this week’s post is another clue.

About this song: Added 7/26/2020|140 bpm|Genre: Suspense/Electronic

Lately, as I find myself staying home more often through sensitive times, I’ve gotten a better focus on game titles that would have normally taken me forever to finish. Huge games like these inspire me when the serenades of my experience are floating through my head as I play through impacting scenes. Needless to say, I like doing my homework when getting to enjoy the soundtracks of these AAA cinematic depictions and gritty fight encounters.

The acoustic guitar plays a vital role in the Last of Us Part II’s soundtrack and dramatic feel throughout the game. The very talented, Gustavo Santaolalla returns to capture and complete those “heavy-hearted” and devastating moments in the story. When the game moves on to more action oriented segments involving numerous intense battles with dangerous enemies and infected humans, there was a minimal presence of music backing those scenes. In these moments, I desired a heavier-handed soundtrack filled with ferocity that captures that break-neck speed and violence. The desperate choreography is discovered here when you’re running for your life to burying a hatchet into someones chest to crawling and hiding from stalking danger. It’s such a thrill ride to where I was inspired to recreate those moments into an audible translation. I’m proud to offer, “A Violent Encounter” as my take and answer to those very real and scary moments.

Please enjoy this song, and know like so many more within our growing catalog, Arcane Sound Lab’s music is made exclusively for you to utilize towards your own creative project. Every song listed has been made available to purchase as royalty-free through this platform. I’m very proud to show off what I’ve been working on with the inspiration of someday getting to work and be apart of bigger creations out there. Thanks for taking the time to catch-up with me this week and hear my latest musical track.

“This Quiet Home” -A Fitting Track For A Setting We Are Seeing More in Video Games

About this song: Added 7/19/2020|120 bpm|Genre: Piano/Electronic

Light Draws in as the evening sun peers over aging trees. It gives off a heavenly glow as the light is welcomed inside by a set of open windows that provides you that gentle breeze. Nature’s calming exhale aerates the room as sheer curtains slow dance and mimic one another. The golden light illuminates undisturbed objects and keepsakes of a favored past. This sanctuary of memorabilia and framed happy moments bring peace and warmth to what would be just weary and dated walls. You slowly look through displayed items that hold some value to those who have carefully balanced them next to each other knowing that each has their own story to tell. When browsing through smiles of young faces in front of places far away, it gives you a glimpse of how it would feel to be there. Its a serene moment and observation one could experience when taking in a setting as still and quiet as a humble abode.

The aimless waltz inside a room gives way to stories and chapters revealed by the possessions people hold onto. It makes rooms more than just four walls and it makes a home more than just a house. The impressive detail and focus game developers can put towards what could be otherwise a simple background or setting, actually shows the interesting process of what the creators can do to make the player believe that its more than just a rendered space for a character to move in.

The Last of Us Part II is a prime example of such focus and beauty instead of what could have been an overlooked area. And games like this are increasingly finding moments where you want to make the time to really take in your surroundings. I’m finding the walk through of character’s homes especially fascinating. That being said, it inspired me to re-imagine a situation just like that and interpret what I think its song would sound like. I loved it!

I’m very happy to share, “This Quiet Home” as my version to a reflective moment of going through a Hall of Memories or that room that may be just full of stuff but is actually apart of you. I hope you enjoyed this dramatic demonstration as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Thanks,

-M.

“Without A Trace” -An Introduction to Mysterious Circumstances
